Home Depot Clearance Finders Compared: Spotted, Scavenger, Deal Soldier and Free Groups
Updated October 9, 2026
The short version
There are three kinds of tool for finding in-store clearance: scanners that check store inventory for you, paid communities where members share finds, and free groups on Reddit, Facebook and Discord.
Scanners are best when you want to know what is on the shelf near you today. Communities are best when you want people to learn from. Free groups cost nothing but the finds are usually gone by the time you see them.

Spotted
Spotted checks in-store clearance price and stock and puts it on a map. You see which nearby stores have a marked-down item, the current price, how many are left, and what the item has recently sold for on eBay.
It suits people who want to plan a trip around what is actually in stock, and resellers who want the margin worked out before they drive. The number of Home Depot items tracked at any one time is limited, so it will not show every clearance tag in a store.
Scavenger
Scavenger focuses on Home Depot penny items and clearance. You enter a ZIP and it scans Home Depots within 25 miles, with a free scan that needs no sign-up. Its help pages say the scanner covers Home Depot today, with written guides for other chains.
It suits people who are specifically hunting penny items at Home Depot. It does not cover other retailers in the scanner.
Deal Soldier
Deal Soldier is a paid community that runs inside Discord, founded by a creator known online as Super Unsexy. Members get ZIP-based tools and alerts and share finds with receipts. There is no standalone app in the App Store; you use Discord.
It suits people who want a community and coaching alongside the tools, and who are comfortable in Discord. At $44 a month after the trial it is the most expensive option here.
Free groups
Subreddits like r/Flipping, local Facebook clearance groups and free Discord servers cost nothing and can be very good for learning what sells.
The limits are timing and location. A deal posted publicly is seen by everyone at once, and it is usually for someone else's store. Good for ideas, unreliable for planning a trip.
Which should you use?
If you want to see real clearance in stock near you across more than one retailer, with resale numbers, try Spotted. If you only care about Home Depot pennies, Scavenger's free scan is the quickest test. If you want a community, Deal Soldier or a free group fits better.
They are not exclusive. Plenty of people use a scanner for stock and a group for ideas.
