Where the sales come from
Spotted collects public estate, garage, yard and moving sale listings from listing sites including EstateSales.NET, Craigslist, gsalr and GarageSaleFinder, refreshed every few hours, and estate sale companies can list sales directly through the free submission form. We keep sales starting within the next 21 days. When the same sale appears on more than one site, we keep one copy per street address and start date.
Credit and original listings
Every sale names the company running it when the listing does, and every photo is credited to the company and site it came from, with a link back to the original listing where we can build one. Photos and listings belong to their owners; we show a few as credited thumbnails and don't republish listing descriptions.
Items spotted in photos
For listings with photos, an image model names the notable items it can see in each photo (furniture, glassware, jewelry, tools, art and so on). We only show identifications it rates as high or medium confidence, and we skip close-up and detail shots. Names are descriptions of what's visible, not appraisals or authentication: check the piece at the sale. A sale gets its own page once we've identified at least 8 items in its photos, and a city gets its own page with at least 8 upcoming sales.
eBay values
Where an item matches recent eBay listings, we show one of two figures, always labeled. "Sold" is the median price of at least three completed eBay sales of similar items. "Listed" is the median current asking price, which usually runs higher than what items actually sell for. We never estimate a value without eBay data behind it.
Dates, places and maps
Dates and hours are as listed. Some listings hide the street address until shortly before the sale; those are placed at the center of their ZIP code on maps and in our structured data. Times are shown as listed, in local time.
Corrections
Estate sale companies can claim their page from any company listing to fix details or add sales. For anything else, use support.
